<p>The project will be built in the town of Niculesti near Bucharest and is expected to add at least 200 megawatts-peak (MWp) of capacity, according to news outlet profit.ro.</p>
</p>
<p>Koc steps into Romania’s renewable sector</p>
<p>The planned facility follows Koc Holding&#8217;s subsidiary Entek Elektrik’s acquisition of two Romanian companies that hold the required development rights for the project in early 2025, involving Eco Sun Niculesti and Euromec-Ciocanari, both previously owned by U.K.-based Econergy International Limited.</p>

<p>Discussions were officially launched with a meeting with the representatives of both Cypriot communities, chaired by Mario Nava, Director-General for Structural Reform Support at the European Commission.</p>
<p>The pre-feasibility study, funded under the EU aid programme for the Turkish Cypriot community and carried out in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, envisages a solar power plant of <strong>36MW</strong> capacity located in the buffer zone, using photovoltaics and <strong>batteries with a storage</strong> capacity of <strong>3 hours</strong>.</p>

<p>The China Electricity Council (CEC) in a yearly report said grid-connected wind and solar would make up around 40% of installed power generation capacity by the end of 2024, compared with coal&#8217;s expected 37%.</p>
<p>By comparison, wind and solar together were around 36% of capacity at the end of 2023, and coal was just under 40%.</p>

<p>McDonald’s will offtake the entirety of the power produced at the Prairie Ronde solar project, which is expected to generate around 327,000MWh annually.</p>
<p>This is the second deal between McDonald’s and Lightsource bp in Louisiana, the first being a PPA signed for a 345MWdc Baton Rouge solar project.</p>

Legislation approved by the French Senate this week requires existing and new car parks with space for at least 80 vehicles to be covered by solar panels.</p>
<p class="dcr-2v2zi4">The owners of car parks with between <strong>80</strong> and <strong>400 spaces</strong> have five years to comply with the measures, while operators of those with more than <strong>400 will have</strong> just 3 years.</p>

<p>The government is planning to skim earnings above €130 a megawatt-hour for solar, wind and nuclear, according to a draft law seen by Bloomberg News. Politicians are trying to reclaim some of the profits that companies like RWE AG are making from high power&#8230;</p>
<p>Lignite mills will be taxed on their earnings of over 52 euros per megawatt hour, and oil plants of 28 euros.</p>

<p>Wang Bohua, Honorary President of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, said in a presentation that the total solar power capacity increased by 25.8% compared to last year, reaching 340 GW. Total installations over the year are expected to be between 75 GW and 90 GW in 2022, Wang said, beating last year&#8217;s record of 54.9 GW.</p>
