‘Daikin Turkey’ Will Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions to ‘Net Zero’ in 2050

While Daikin, the pioneer of the air-conditioning industry, aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero in 2050, Daikin Turkey has also published its first ‘Sustainability Report’, announcing the work carried out within this framework.

Accordingly, Daikin has increased efficiency in its products with energy efficient inverter technology and R-32, a refrigerant with a lower global warming potential, while preventing damage to the ozone layer. With the localization project, it provides a cost advantage of 2 million euros with the products it buys from Turkey. company; It reduced carbon emissions by reducing transportation costs and fuel consumption. With the GES project commissioned in July 2020, it obtained the energy of its factory in Hendek from here, while reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 63 percent. Following the water consumption meticulously, Daikin took the necessary precautions and saved 14,500 cubic meters of water. With various applications, it has saved 70 percent in lighting and 30 percent in natural gas. It recovered 513 tons of waste. Attaching great importance to R&D, the company allocated a budget of 22 million TL for this department.

All Daikin service personnel received the F-Gas Certificate in accordance with the Regulation on Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases, prepared by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and determining the management of F-Gas. The company, which will plant 1 million trees by 2050, will establish Daikin forests. Daikin Turkey CEO Hasan Önder said, “We have set a net zero carbon emission target by 2050. We aim to achieve 50 percent of this by 2030. We hope that other companies will follow our example.” said.

While Turkey is taking steps to implement the Paris Climate Agreement, companies are drawing attention with their pioneering practices in this regard. Developing all its production and management processes on sustainability policies, Daikin Turkey has published its studies in this direction with a report. In the 122-page Sustainability Report announced by the company, all processes from supply chain to logistics, from R&D center to environmental vision, from operational efficiency to climate change and energy policies, from water and waste management to human resources management are explained with data.
