The new BP Statistical Review of World Energy was published this week. It’s worth a look:  a treasure trove of energy data, published annually since 1952. (Full disclosure:  I led the production of the Review for a dozen years…)

The Review has comprehensive global coverage of every energy form as well as key minerals—demand, supply, trade, prices. The focus of the Review this year is, rightly, global energy demand and CO2 emissions—both of which increased last year, albeit at below-average rates.

The huge disruption caused by the coronavirus crisis has highlighted how much modern societies rely on electricity.

Millions of people are now confined to their homes, resorting to teleworking to do their jobs, e-commerce sites to do their shopping, and streaming video platforms to find entertainment. A reliable electricity supply underpins all of these services, as well as powering the devices most of us take for granted such as fridges, washing machines and light bulbs.

Dünya kara sularında yol alan birçok geminin denize elverişli olup olmadığını denetlemesini yapan ulusal değerlendirme kuruluşu olan Türk Loydu, son yıllarda pek çok ülke tarafından da tercih edilmektedir.

Türkiye’nin en büyük savaş gemisi olacak TCG Anadolu’nun da belgelerini hazırlayan Türk Loydu, Katar ve Türkmenistan’da ki deniz araçlarında da denetim sağlamaktadır. Türk Loydu Başkanı Cem Melikoğlu, “Savunma Sanayi Müsteşarlığı projelerinin ilgi görmesiyle Türk Loydu da dünya çapında da markalaşmıştır” dedi. Nükleer enerji sektörüne hazırlık için Alman TÜV Nord ile işbirliği yapan kuruluş Türkiye’nin ilk milli rüzgar türbinini de belgelendirecek.
