With a combined investment of $13.6 billion, this value is targeted to reach 5GW by 2030; thus, approximately 6.5 million tons of CO2 emissions will be saved annually.</p>
<p>Shuaa Energy 1, the second phase of the solar park with 200 MW, became operational in 2017. The facility uses fixed-pitch thin-film technology, has more than 2.3 million solar panels, and produces clean energy equivalent to the energy consumption of 50,000 residences in the Emirate.</p>

<p>Thanks to this expertise, we&#8217;re able to produce safer, eco-friendlier oils. Traditionally, many products – tyres are just one example – contain high aromatic (HA) oils. These oils, in turn, contain compounds that can be injurious to one&#8217;s health and that are virtually non-degradable. Which is why they are gradually being phased out – in fact, as of 2010 tyre manufacturers in the EU are banned from producing tyres containing high aromatic oils.</p>

<p>Cleaner oils, safer products</p>
<p>As a society, we are well informed today. This trend will only grow stronger, and the legislation reflecting it more draconian. Our naphthenic grades are not classified as carcinogenic, allowing them to replace, for example high aromatic oils in tyres. Another application on the horizon is using naphthenic oil as a plasticizer in PVC; the phtalates used today are environmentally unsuitable.</p>

The city’s utility company Göteborg Energi opted to use the bio-based and biodegradable insulating liquid in a transformer located in a sensitive water protection area.</strong></p>
<p>“As the transformer is located near a source of <strong>drinking water</strong>, we needed to make absolutely sure that no oil is spilled in the area, and we needed to use an <strong>insulating liquid</strong> that is <strong>highly biodegradable</strong>,” says Ferruccio Vuinovich, Planning Engineer, <strong>Göteborg Energi.</strong></p>
