While one of Italy’s first international and one of the world’s top 10 operators announced its collaboration with Google and others to build the undersea cable systems called Sparkle, Blue and Raman, Blue will connect Italy, France, Greece and Israel, while Raman will connect Jordan, Saudi Arabia. It will connect Arabia, Djibouti, Oman and India.

In particular, Blue will be deployed on a new route in the Mediterranean, crossing the Strait of Messina and heading north, rather than following the traditional route through the Sicilian Canal.
