Gelgit olay\u0131 Ay ve G\u00fcne\u015f&#8217;in konumlar\u0131ndaki de\u011fi\u015fmeler sonucu k\u00fctle \u00e7ekimlerinde meydana gelen farkl\u0131l\u0131klar ile deniz seviyesinde olu\u015fturdu\u011fu kabarma ve al\u00e7alma olarak a\u00e7\u0131klanabilir. Gelgit durumunda as\u0131l \u00f6nemli olan D\u00fcnyaya uzakl\u0131k konusudur. Bunlardan ilki gelgit baraj\u0131d\u0131r. Suyun kinetik enerjisi kullan\u0131l\u0131r ve b\u00f6ylece elektrik \u00fcretilmi\u015f olur. Bu y\u00f6ntemde suyun potansiyel enerjisi kullan\u0131l\u0131r. Su seviyesindeki farkl\u0131l\u0131ktan yararlan\u0131larak t\u00fcrbinler d\u00f6nd\u00fcr\u00fcl\u00fcr ve elektrik \u00fcretimi sa\u011flan\u0131r. Bir di\u011fer y\u00f6ntem ise gelgit ak\u0131\u015f jenerat\u00f6r\u00fcd\u00fcr \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma prensibi ise r\u00fczgar t\u00fcrbiniyle ayn\u0131 mant\u0131ktad\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>Gelgit enerji \u00fcretimi t\u0131pk\u0131 r\u00fczgar g\u00fclleri gibi yenilenebilir enerjiler aras\u0131ndad\u0131r ve kayna\u011f\u0131 do\u011fa oldu\u011fu i\u00e7in yak\u0131t\u0131 bedavad\u0131r bununla beraber temiz enerji kayna\u011f\u0131d\u0131r ve do\u011faya zarar vermez. Bu avantajlar\u0131n\u0131n yan\u0131 s\u0131ra olduk\u00e7a maliyetli olmas\u0131 ve \u00e7ok fazla alan kaplamas\u0131 gibi dezavantajlar\u0131 da bulunmaktad\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>D\u00fcnya&#8217;n\u0131n medcezir kapasitesinin 3000 GW b\u00fcy\u00fckl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnde oldu\u011fu bilinmektedir fakat bu gelgit enerjisi kapasitenin yaln\u0131zca %2&#8217;sinden yararlan\u0131lmaktad\u0131r. Genellikle a\u00e7\u0131k denizlerde kurulan bu sistemin T\u00fcrkiye&#8217;de hen\u00fcz bir \u00f6rne\u011fi bulunmamaktad\u0131r. T\u00fcrkiye&#8217;deki denizlerde gelgit olay\u0131n\u0131n fazla hissedilmedi\u011fi d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcld\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnde ileriki zamanlarda kurulmas\u0131n\u0131n da pek mant\u0131kl\u0131 olmayaca\u011f\u0131 s\u00f6ylenebilir.
