Kendi enerjisini y\u00f6netebilen ak\u0131ll\u0131 binalar ise fosil yak\u0131tlara ba\u011f\u0131ml\u0131 olmayan, azalt\u0131lm\u0131\u015f karbon gelece\u011finin temel ta\u015f\u0131n\u0131 olu\u015fturuyor. Peki nedir bu enerji y\u00f6netimini kendi yapan binalar? Hava ko\u015fullar\u0131na dayan\u0131kl\u0131, daha iyi yal\u0131t\u0131ml\u0131, ayd\u0131nlatma i\u00e7in en az enerji ile en iyi sonucun al\u0131nabilece\u011fi, daha ekonomik cihazlar ile enerji verimlili\u011finin artt\u0131r\u0131labilece\u011fi, \u015febekeye ba\u011fl\u0131 normal evler, bir y\u0131l boyunca t\u00fcketecekleri kadar yenilenebilir enerji \u00fcreterek, kullan\u0131c\u0131lara net s\u0131f\u0131r enerji faturas\u0131 ve karbon b\u0131rakacak \u015fekilde tasarlan\u0131yor. Yeni bina sistemlerinin, enerjinin nereden veya nas\u0131l kaynakland\u0131\u011f\u0131na bak\u0131lmaks\u0131z\u0131n bir sitede (\u00f6rne\u011fin bir binada) bir y\u0131lda t\u00fcketilen her enerji birimi i\u00e7in bir enerji birimi \u00fcretmesi gerekiyor. Binalarda kullan\u0131lacak Kaynak Enerji; \u00fcretim, iletim ve da\u011f\u0131t\u0131m s\u00fcrecinde kaybolabilecek veya bo\u015fa harcanabilecek enerji de dahil olmak \u00fczere bir b\u00f6lgeye enerjilendirmek i\u00e7in gereken birincil enerjiyi ifade ediyor. \u00d6rne\u011fin, bir k\u00f6m\u00fcr yakan enerji santrali t\u00fcketilen k\u00f6m\u00fcrdeki her 3 Joule enerji i\u00e7in 1 Joule elektrik \u00fcretebiliyor. Bir sahada do\u011falgaz kullan\u0131l\u0131yorsa, t\u00fcketilen her 20 Joule i\u00e7in, gaz\u0131 sahaya \u00e7\u0131karmak ve da\u011f\u0131tmak i\u00e7in 1 Joule gerekebiliyor.
