However, if these countries set ambitious emissions reduction targets for 2030 in line with the 1.5\u00b0C target and achieve net zero emissions by 2050, global temperature rise by the end of the century could be limited to <strong>1.7\u00b0C<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The report also states that if the <strong>2030 targets<\/strong> are not strengthened, countries will need to implement drastic emissions reductions that will not be able to be achieved cost-effectively after 2030.
