A new interim target of <strong>88%<\/strong> is set for <strong>2040.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The change was needed after <strong>Germany&#8217;s highest court<\/strong> ruled in April that the <strong>government&#8217;s climate policies<\/strong> were inadequate. Federal Environment Minister <strong>Svenja Schulze<\/strong> said the amended law &#8220;<strong>creates intergenerational justice<\/strong>, <strong>greater planning security<\/strong>, and <strong>decisive climate protection<\/strong> that rebuilds and modernizes the economy rather than suffocating it.&#8221;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A bill amending the Federal Climate Action Act was approved by the German Parliament.
