The opening ceremony of the project was hosted by UEDAŞ Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors İsmail Ergüneş, Mayor of Gökçeada Ünal Çetin, Mayor of Bozcaada Dr. Hakan Can Yılmaz was held with the participation of.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ergüneş said, “We are happy to implement a project that will set an example for the whole world in terms of the evaluation of renewable resources, together with our stakeholders. The main purpose of our EU-supported project is to reduce carbon emissions, facilitate the integration of renewable energy, and accelerate the transition to smart and green energy. We are establishing an energy storage facility in Gökçeada with the Gökçeada Enerjin Yeter project. Renewable power plants and generators that are currently operational on the island will be integrated into the Virtual Power Plant (VPP) system to be established. Thus, the energy of the islands will be tried to be provided from renewable energy. In addition, within the scope of the tests in the project, a smart meter application will be made to all consumers in a transformer zone. In this context, we will have the chance to follow the consumption habits of users.”

The project will be completed in 42 months

Bozcaada Municipality, Troya Environment Association and Inavitas company are among the stakeholders of UEDAŞ in the project, which includes a total of 19 partners from countries such as England, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands. 70% of the 7.2 million Euro project will be donated by the European Union. The project, coordinated by the University of Marseille from France, is expected to be completed in 42 months.

It will set an example for other projects

Speaking about the project, UEDAŞ General Manager Gökay Fatih Danacı said, “Within the scope of Gökçeada Energetic Enough Project, 2 mW of energy will be obtained. A total of 7 thousand 260 subscribers will benefit from the project. Studies similar to the system that will be tested in Gökçeada for 42 months will also be carried out on other islands in Turkey, as well as on the islands in Denmark, Italy and Spain. Larger projects and systems will be implemented in order to disseminate the model to be developed after these studies.”

After the opening, the signing ceremony was held with the participation of the stakeholders of the project, UEDAŞ, Bozcaada Municipality, Troya Environment Association and Inavitas.

Highest budget research grant program

The Horizon2020 Grant Program, created by the European Union to support scientific and applied research, development and innovation projects, is positioned as the highest-budgeted research grant program in human history.
