Opponents also pointed out that<strong> Switzerland<\/strong> is responsible for only <strong>0.1%<\/strong> of global emissions, and <strong>expressed doubts<\/strong> that such policies would <strong>help the environment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper e1xue1i84\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-18snukc-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">The vote, under<strong> Switzerland&#8217;s system of direct democracy<\/strong>, went <strong>51%<\/strong> against, <strong>49%<\/strong> in favour. The Swiss government wants to bring emissions down to half of<strong> 1990<\/strong> levels by<strong> 2030<\/strong>.
