Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland and Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo today announced approval of the construction and operation of the Vineyard Wind project.<\/h1>\n

\"\"The first large-scale,<\/strong> offshore wind project<\/strong> in the United States. The Secretaries<\/strong> were joined in the announcement by labor leaders who have been working to ensure that the project is built<\/strong> and maintained<\/strong> by union labor.<\/p>\n

The 800-megawatt<\/strong> Vineyard Wind energy project<\/em> will contribute to the\u00a0Biden-Harris administration\u2019s goal<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0of generating 30 gigawatts of energy from offshore wind by 2030.<\/p>\n

The project will be located approximately 12 nautical miles offshore Martha\u2019s Vineyard<\/strong> and 12 nautical<\/strong> miles offshore Nantucket in the northern portion of Vineyard Wind\u2019s lease area.
