The amendments to the 7 regulations in the fields of connection and system use, balancing-settlement, storage, licensing, unlicensed generation, network regulation and renewable energy for the electricity market were published in the Official Gazette dated May 9, 2021.<\/h1>\n

With the Regulation<\/strong> on Storage Activities in the Electricity Market of EMRA<\/strong>, the procedures and principles for the establishment of electricity storage systems<\/strong> and their participation in the system have been determined. According to the regulation, a separate storage facility<\/strong> can be established adjacent to \"\"the production facility and consumption facility. Distribution companies will be able to establish a storage facility by proving<\/strong> that it is cost-effective. Storage facilities to be established by distribution companies cannot be traded other than electricity distribution. Storage facilities<\/strong> can be established with EMRA approval<\/strong>. The storage facility will have at least 2 MW<\/strong> of installed power. More than one independent electricity storage facility<\/strong> can be established under a supply license.<\/p>\n

With the regulation, universities<\/strong> and technology development regions<\/strong> can be given the right to establish storage facilities, provided that they have at least 1 MW<\/strong> of installed power, to be used in R&D studies.<\/strong> Pumping facilities will also be able to establish an energy storage facility<\/strong> to be used in case of an outage. Technical criteria for all storage facilities will be announced until September 1st.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Electricity Network Regulation<\/strong> for storage services was also amended. In this context, according to the technical criteria whose basic framework is drawn, monitoring the storage facilities<\/strong> with the central system, network connection, etc.<\/strong> technical criteria will be determined by September 1st. Storage facilities were included in the automatic meter reading system<\/strong> with the changes made in the procedures and principles for Automatic Meter Reading Systems.<\/p>\n
