Wind is now America\u2019s top renewable source of electricity generation. 2020 in particular was a banner year for wind power in the U.S., with\u00a0more capacity installed in the final quarter of 2020 alone than in all of 2019. \"\"Now, the total capacity exceeds 120,000 MW, enough to power about 38 million homes.<\/h1>\n

Essentially\u00a0all<\/em>\u00a0of that growth was in the onshore wind sector<\/strong>. Developers are planning<\/strong> more offshore projects<\/strong> for the coming years, too. And they\u2019re pioneering advances<\/strong> in the field along the way, like the development<\/strong> of increasingly huge turbines<\/strong>, with individual blades larger<\/strong> than football fields.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But for all the promise of wind power<\/strong>, there are some concerns<\/strong> that have persisted<\/strong> over the years, impeding the expansion of both onshore<\/strong> and offshore turbines.<\/strong><\/p>\n
