{"id":112059,"date":"2020-04-19T00:55:35","date_gmt":"2020-04-18T21:55:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.enerjigazetesi.ist\/?p=112059"},"modified":"2020-04-19T01:04:11","modified_gmt":"2020-04-18T22:04:11","slug":"yenilenebilir-enerji-fosil-yakiti-gerisinde-birakiyor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.enerjigazetesi.ist\/en\/yenilenebilir-enerji-fosil-yakiti-gerisinde-birakiyor\/","title":{"rendered":"Renewable Energy Outstrips Fossil Fuel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h1>The latest report on energy system developments shows that 176 GWs of new renewable energy capacity accounted for 72% of all new energy capacity additions in 2019.<\/h1>\n<p>The data, released in the <strong>International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0annual <strong>Renewable Capacity Statistics 2020<\/strong>, showed that while the 2019 figure was slightly lower than 2018\u2019s 179 GW the market continued to expand, up over <strong>7.5%<\/strong>.\u00a0Asia showed the most spectacular <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-112061\" src=\"https:\/\/www.enerjigazetesi.ist\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/yenilenebilir-enerji-fosil-yakiti-gerisinde-birakiyor.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"192\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.enerjigazetesi.ist\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/yenilenebilir-enerji-fosil-yakiti-gerisinde-birakiyor.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.enerjigazetesi.ist\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/yenilenebilir-enerji-fosil-yakiti-gerisinde-birakiyor-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.enerjigazetesi.ist\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/yenilenebilir-enerji-fosil-yakiti-gerisinde-birakiyor-500x300.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.enerjigazetesi.ist\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/yenilenebilir-enerji-fosil-yakiti-gerisinde-birakiyor-80x48.jpg 80w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/>growth, with <strong>54%<\/strong> of total additions while wind and solar power accounted by <strong>90%<\/strong> of capacity deployed.<\/p>\n<p>Renewables accounted for at least 70% of total capacity expansion in almost all regions in 2019, other than in Africa where the figure was 52% and the Middle East, wherethey constituted 26% of net additions. The growth reported took the share of renerwables in global power capacity to 34.7%, up from 33.3% at the end of 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, while the growth in 2019 positions the renewable energy sector strongly for long term growth, there are continuing concerns about the impact of economic stimulus. It&#8217;s been argued that the bailout of the airlines could have paid for their transition to <strong>low carbon fuels<\/strong>, and it is possible that a focus on returning to business as usual through economic stimulus plans could result in continued funding of fossil fuel powered generation &#8211; especially in industrial areas where power density plays a critical role.<\/p>\n<p>In response to concerns about such impact Francisco Camera, Secretary General of<strong> IRENA<\/strong> has warned that short term solutions adopted to face the challenges of <strong>COVID-19<\/strong> must be in line with overall short and long term goals. He said, \u201c\u201cRenewable energy is a cost-effective source of new power that insulates power markets and consumers from volatility, supports economic stability and stimulates sustainable growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out <strong>energy transitions<\/strong> are already underway in many countries, and have become increasingly affordable because of forward-looking policy frameworks, ongoing innovations and the falling technology costs for renewables. <strong>Solar photovoltaic (PV)<\/strong> and <strong>wind power<\/strong> have become the cheapest sources of electricity in many markets, with other <strong>renewable power sources<\/strong> poised to reach cost parity within a few years.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The latest report on energy system developments shows that 176 GWs of new renewable energy capacity accounted for 72% of all new energy capacity additions in 2019.
