‘EU’ Will Provide IBB with 3 Million Euro Sustainable Energy Grant Support

The EU will provide consultancy and 3 million Euro grant support to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality for the development of sustainable energy projects.

The application of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) to the “European Union (EU for Energy Transformation): Contract of Mayors in the Western Balkans and Turkey Project” within the scope of the “EUforEnergy” program in May 2021 has resulted in a positive result. With the project, the EU will provide consultancy services and technical and capacity support to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality on the development of the “Sustainable Energy and Climate Plan” (SECAP).

FedEx Says it will be Carbon Neutral by 2040

Company is going all-electric and funding a new Yale center for applied research focused on carbon-negative technologies.

FedEx Corp. announced this week that it wants to achieve carbon-neutral operations globally by 2040. The company laid out three key areas it will focus on via a $2B investment: vehicle electrification, sustainable energy, and carbon sequestration.

This includes a pledge of $100 million to Yale University to help establish the Yale Center for Natural Carbon Capture, which will be focused on developing natural solutions for reducing atmospheric carbon.

The chicken or the egg? The cart or the horse? Should policy or technology take the lead? It is not a reasonable question when it comes to deciding where the keys to a sustainable energy future lay – we need both.

Meeting that energy challenge is fundamental to maintaining our current way of life and fulfilling the growing energy needs of the rest of the world. About 1.3 billion people globally live in energy poverty – that is, they lack access to sufficient energy for basic needs and are forced to rely on the most primitive forms of energy such as wood burning and waste, as well as expending an excessive amount of time collecting these fuels.
