The industry body claims 40GW of solar capacity must be in place by 2030 if the UK is to remain on target to reach net zero by 2050, as set out in its national climate commitments.</strong></p>
<p>In a new report, <strong>Solar Energy UK</strong> predicts such a scaling up of capacity could create <strong>13,000 new jobs</strong> across the sector and drive <strong>£17 billion of additional economic activity</strong>, while simultaneously cutting national carbon emissions by <strong>21.2 million tonnes per year</strong>, or around <strong>4.7%.</strong></p>

<p>The results, outlined in an <strong><em>Electricity Journal</em> article</strong>, point to a nonlinear relationship between <strong>system costs</strong> and <strong>renewable energy</strong> contribution: Small deviations from the <strong>least-cost solution</strong> have minimal cost impacts, while larger deviations from the <strong>least-cost solution</strong> can result in large cost changes.</p>

<p>This could see the facility storing low-carbon hydrogen as early as 2028.</p>
<p>The existing Aldbrough Gas Storage facility, which was commissioned in 2011, is co-owned by SSE Thermal and Equinor, and consist of nine underground salt caverns, each roughly the size of St.</p>

<p>While not without controversy, those small modular reactors can be factory-built and then shipped before the modules would be set side-by-side as energy needs grow.</p>

<p>It is estimated that the share of total electricity capacity in solar energy will be 51% by 2030 in the top 10 solar energy markets of Asia Pacific.</p>
<p>Expressing that market barriers have been overcome with new policies in the region, Xin Zhang noted that the share of solar energy in Asia Pacific&#8217;s energy production will increase from 4% in 2020 to 10% in 2030.</p>
