Thus, an important step was taken in the third phase of the power plant construction. The ceremony was held via videoconference due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Prior to pouring concrete, the concrete bed was prepared for the foundations of the reactor building’s auxiliary reactor building, where the Main Control Room is located, the turbine building, and the power supply building, which supplies energy for normal operation, emergency and safety control systems.

Industry and household demand started to pick up. Demand returned to pre-epidemic levels in December, despite a small decline in November, affected by a wave of seclusion measures.
The EU electricity consumption average prevented any major differences in member states to be seen. Because consumption has increased significantly year by year in 10 countries (Hungary + 5%, Romania + 3%, Poland + 1%), while the rest remained in the negative zone.

Until now, France has usually acted as the grid’s largest exporter, thanks to its location and nuclear fleet. But in the second half of 2020, Norway rose above France to become Europe’s powerhouse. What changed in the two countries, and is this an anomaly or a trend?

Renewables threaten to revolutionise the geopolitics of power generation, but until then, location is everything.

and other non-hydro renewable power technologies over the next decade, according to analysis by BloombergNEF. Meanwhile, those private sector companies that have joined the RE100 group, pledging to source 100% of their power from renewables, will need to buy an estimated 210 terawatt-hours of green electricity by 2030, on top of what they consume now, in order to be on track.

A recent analysis from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) illustrates how electricity storage technologies can be used for a variety of applications in the power sector, from e-mobility and behind-the-meter applications to utility-scale use cases.

Utility-scale batteries, for example, can enable a greater feed-in of renewables into the grid by storing excess generation and by firming renewable energy output.
