It was announced in June that an international public tender would be launched for a solar energy project large enough to power the 2022 Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC). (Bahrain Tender Board- https://www.tenderboard.gov.bh/)

It is envisaged that a grid-tied solar PV power plant with a minimum capacity of 3 MWac, with a capacity of at least 3 MWac, will be constructed using the Build Own Operate and Maintain-BOOM method.
